What are some myths/stories about Minerva?
Minerva (aka Athena in Greek Mythology) I think the most famous myth of Minerva is of Minerva and Arachne which you may have heard of. Arachne was a girl born into a poor family of low status but was wonderful at weaving. Her weaving skills were known throughout her city, even nymphs would leave their places to come see her weave. Well, Arachne denied Minerva of teacher her her skills. (Minerva is goddess of weaving, handiwork, etc) Minerva was angry that she wasn’t recognized as the goddess of weaving (having taught Arachne all that she knew) so Minerva disguised herself as an old lady and came to visit Arachne, and Arachne quickly dismissed the goddess in disguise. Minerva revealed her true identity as a goddess and challenged Arachne to a weaving contest, whoever wove the better won. Arachne wove scenes of things like Zeus’ many affairs, shameful deeds, etc. but her work was beautiful in all its glory and Minerva could not find one mistake.
