What are some independent hip hop magazines with huge circulation in the south?
That’s going to be hard to find. By definition independant magazines don’t have huge distribution. You’re not likely to find anything to your description. Your best bet would be to check out some hip hop retail stores (clothing, music etc….) and get some leads from them as to what the good regional magazines are. Then instead of spending a bunch of money advertizing in a mag with huge circulation spend smaller amounts advertizing in multiple regional mags. Not to mention there are other ways to advertize on a budget esp in urban culture. build a myspace site, go to local shows, do a stickering campaign where you canvas a city and put up stickers all over the place etc… all very inexpensive and conducive to spreading the message by word of mouth.
