What are some human uses of protists?
Many species of red algae are edible; they supply oxygen; decompose and recycle nutrients; algae can be use to produce a thickening agent in ice cream, pudding, and candy; chemicals from algae are used to manufacture waxes, plastics, paints and lubricants; also chemicals made from protists can be used in treatment of ulcers, high blood pressure, and arthritis; brown algae is commercially important to humans as well.
