What are some holy writings of Buddhism?
The Sutras are written records of oral teachings given by the Buddha and other lamas, rimpoches or scholars. They aren’t “holy” in the sense that the Koran, the Bible or the Torah are, insofar as they are not thought to be the word of God. The Buddha said that we shouldn’t simply accept what he taught as truth, or holy in any way, but that we should examine and analyze things for ourselves.
