What are some guidelines to consider when cutting profiles made of Eastman Provista™ copolymer?
• For large profiles, use a traveling-saw with a triple-chip-style carbide-tipped blade with 2–4 teeth per inch (2.5 cm). • Small parts may be cut using a sharp fly-knife cutter. Support the profile as it enters and exits the cutter using properly sized guide blocks. Guide the profile into the cutter so that the cutter blade strikes each of the profile’s leading edges simultaneously. • Heat the profile prior to cutting at 38°–54°C (100°–130°F) to reduce splintering and cracking. Using a hot water bath can help facilitate a good cut if there is residual heat in the profile when it is cut.
