What are some great topping ideas for vanilla ice cream?
Ice cream is one of my favorite things and probably my biggest weakness. I eat ice cream at least four times a week (I’ve cut back from seven). Vanilla ice cream is the base for almost any topping you like. Some of my favorite toppings are pineapple, strawberry, wet walnuts, chopped peanuts and of course, chocolate, crushed Heath Bars, whipped cream and cherries. I’m not big on hot fudge, butterscotch or marshmallows. Certain combinations work better together than others. Chocolate and wet walnuts or chocolate and chopped peanuts topped with whipped cream and a cherry are good. Pineapple topping and wet walnuts are great together but can give you a sugar rush if you’re not careful – also topped with whipped cream and a cherry. Another good combination is chocolate syrup, crushed Heath Bars, whipped cream and a cherry. OK, gotta go get some ice cream now!
