One good way is to spend cash instead of using an ATM card…it somehow keeps you more accountable for what you’re spending. Also, if you do that, you can hang on to all your spare change. Even if the cost of something is like $4.02 and you have two pennies, get the $0.98 back and put it in a piggy bank of some sort. My husband and I have a big plastic bank that we just put all our change in at the end of the day, just empty our pockets. And at the end of the week, put whatever you can afford into the bank, too…a couple bucks, a five, even a twenty…you’d be amazed how quickly that adds up. Another thing to consider is setting up an automatic withdrawl from your checking account to go directly into a savings account. Even 10 bucks a week. It is a great way to save up some extra money, and if you don’t have to physically move it yourself, you don’t have to remember it and it somehow makes it less painful to do, lol, probably because you don’t see it happen.
