Sandstorm is overplayed. Basshunter and Cascada are complete rubbish and should not be used to define techno or electronic dance music as a whole. Those who believe that all EDM sounds alike are listening to the music far too superficially. There is a certain level of understanding one must have to appreciate some EDM tracks. This may contribute to this misconception. Many EDM, or as you have labeled here, techno, may be remixes of songs from other genres. This is in part due to the fact that EDM remixes are useful in clubs. Trance, a subgenre of EDM, is currently the most popular music in the world by club play (North America, particularly the US is an anomaly in the sense that Hip-Hop, which can be classified under EDM at times is the most popular club genre.). It is consequently, beneficial to have a techno/trance/house remix of your song as it may give the song greater exposure in clubs thus promoting sales and recognition.
