What are some good songs for a beginner guitar player to learn?

When I first started out playing guitar, I took on songs that were way above my level and it got pretty discouraging, so avoid that if you can. If you’re able to play power chords, Start with learning some AC/DC riffs, like Back in Black, T.N.T., You Shook Me All Night Long (if you familiar with them.) or even new pop-punk or rock like Fall Out Boy or blink-182. If you’re still struggling with fingering the right notes, the easiest thing to do would be to hum the guitar part to a song and try to learn the notes. For example, on the low E string, Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple would sound like this: E|—0-3-5—0-3-6-5—0-3-5–3-0—| Experiment this idea with different songs and then you’ll be able to pick up some faster songs and you will gain some strength in your fingers for playing more diificult songs down the road. The key is to avoid playing sloppy and play accurately. Good luck.
