What are some good restaurants in the mid-town Manhattan area and around Penn Station?
If you don’t want to spend megabucks for a good meal, I suggest Manganaro’s Hero Boy on Ninth Ave and 38th street. Their heroes are famous, but they also have platters in this cafeteria style restaurant. A new york institution. Another favorite place of mine is about a mile south of Penn Station. It is a restaurant called Spain and is on thirteenth street just west of Sixth Ave. Paella and Zarzuela are house specialties. It is an easy walk, the blocks downtown are very short, but you take the train or bus if you prefer. The B train to 14th will put you nearby aas will the #1, 2, or 3. Ninth avenue in the forties and fifties is known for it’s restaurants, and they came in all descriptions there. Right off ninth on 46th street is Restaurant Row.
