What are some good photography colleges/schools? Will my academics matter for acceptance?
Based on your success at school, I am guessing you are ambitious. Shoot high and don’t stress about the dreaded rejection letters! I’m giving you a list of strong schools, most of which will value your academic record. Keeping working on the portfolio, you still have a year to go! Take risks in pushing the ideas of your work and talk to your teachers about what you need to do to go from average to great. Fashion photography jobs are very competitive. Consider hard the reputation of the school and the connections you will make with professors who are successful and active outside of the classroom because it will matter for your career. If you want to shoot for jobs at the top of the industry that will allow you to do innovative work, you need either go to a GOOD school in NYC or LA OR go to an AMAZING school outside of NYC/LA.
