What Are Some Good Maintenance Tips For Badger Hair?
Do a lather & warm water rinse before first use of a new brush to remove preservatives & possible odors. Rinse thorougly after each use & vigorously shake out excess water before air drying. Rinse in warm water (not hot) and finish with cold water (we’ve never seen a badger take a hot bath). Always hang, bristles down, to air dry in an appropriate drip stand. Hair facing down prevents water from settling in the knot and causing mildew and also helps to keep the hair bundle in it’s natural shape. Please, never use boiling water, disinfectants or a hair dryer on a shave brush. Avoid enclosing a wet brush in too small an enclosed space in order to prevent mildew. When traveling, give it a chance to dry before putting back in a travel tube. If your brush becomes affected by mildew or a build up of soap, soak for a few minutes in a solution of Borax and water, then risnse and dry.
