What are some good homemade cat toys to make?
I’ve found that expensive cat toys are a waste of money, as mine have always preferred to play with things they found lying around the home. Our female cat loves to play fetch with twisty cable ties shaped into a circle. Ping pong balls, paper scrunched into a ball, empty cotton reels or bottle corks are cheap and fun to play with. All cats enjoy jumping in and out of cardboard boxes, and you can add a few layers of shredded newspaper in the bottom and hide a few cat treats or lightweight toys inside. Alternatively cut holes in the side of the box large enough for them to climb through, and attach lightweight toys on a piece of string just above the hole, so that they can grab for them. Sheets of corrugated cardboard also make excellent scratchers too. You can make a fishing rod toy by tying a light weight toy on the end of a piece of string and then attaching the other end to a short bamboo pole.
