What are some good herbs/fruits to grow in the same pot?
Different plant species prefer different levels of soil pH. For example, blueberries prefer high acid soils. Apples prefer a more neutral pH. You should also consider that some plants exclude the growth of other plant species. For example, black walnut trees exude toxins in the soil which allow only certain species to grow around them. I recommend going to your local library where you should be able to find gardening books which list herbs and shrubs which grow well under the same conditions. For example, “How to grow more vegetables” by John Jeavons has charts which list good ‘companion plants’, meaning plants which compliment one another when grown together. A good example is planting basil around your tomato plants. This works in either a garden or a pot.
