What are some good exercises for the forearms and wrists?

One that I have found very effective is as follows: sit on a bench with your forearms supported by the bench with only the hands and wrists over the edge. Use a barbell — whatever weight you start with should be fairly light until you build the muscle. Hold the bar, palms up, starting in the down position. Curl up toward you slowly *without lifting your arms from the bench*. Curl down slowly. Repeat up to 25 times. Keeping the arms still on the bench focusses all the work in the forearms and wrists. After you have done the palms up curl, repeat with palms down.
