What are some good complementary colors for teal?
Teal is a cool colour and is best complimented by a warm colour, and since it’s a bit more exotic than plain blue, a split complimentary or tertiary scheme looks best. I love the look of teal and bronze together. bronze is a warm metallic, similar to the true colour wheel compliment of burnt orange. Bronze looks fresh, contemporary and for a sweet sixteen the height of what’s new, now and trendy. For party decorations metallic bronze accents will look great with the teal. In addition, rich, luxurious, warm browns such as rust, burnt sienna, and chocolate will all look great. These are red yellow based, meaning they fit the split complementary scheme. Stay away from muddy khakis, dull raw umber and ochres, and anything with a grey or blue undertones. Keep the undertones warm. For a light accent a warm camel or creamy beige will look good, especially if they are accented with a bit of gold or bronze. Have fun with the party!
