What are some good colleges/universities for a major in japanese?
Well, really any place that offers the Japanese language as a major (or includes the language as part of an East Asian studies major), would be a good place to study. My advice is to go the Princeton Review and take their “Counselor-o-matic ” test, which gives you good matches for you based on various criteria, including your intended major. I don’t think there’s any particular college that is renowned for its Japanese department, so I would take a look at the course catalogs of different colleges to see if they offer what you want. If/when you tour the colleges to which you are applying, see if you can meet with the department chair to discuss the Japanese program and their study abroad options. Also, it is possible to matriculate to a college or university in Japan. I imagine it would be difficult to enter a Japanese university as a freshman due to the differences in the educational system, but you could also go to an international school For instance, Temple University has a branch
