What are some good arguments FOR and AGAINST Quebec Separatism?
The main reason FOR separation is that Quebec is predominantly as French speaking province whereas most of the rest of Canada is predominantly English speaking. This difference goes deeper to cultural roots and heritage. However there are more reasons AGAINST the separation: 1) The rest of Canada has made concessions to Quebec to keep it in the country including requiring English AND French be used for most Government and Business communications. 2) Quebec would be geographically isolated by English speaking provinces surrounding it as well as English speaking U.S. to the South. No one would have reason to make concessions to Quebec if it seceded so its cultural isolation would become even more pronunced. 3) Quebec by itself would be a much smaller country so would not be able to draw on the resources of Canada as a whole. Also its citizens might not have access to jobs in the rest of Canada. 4) There is the possibility that the U.S. would not keep an open border with Quebec as it does
