What are some good ab workouts besides obliques, leg raises, and crunches??
There are lots of yoga moves that really work the abs well. I don’t personally buy into the weighted ab workouts, because none of these actually involve balance or stability. The purpose of your abdominal muscles is to hold your body up straight with good posture, balance and flexibility. I don’t think weight training them on an ab machine does any good in this regard. Anyway, check out some yoga moves (I’m going to put some up on my website sometime in the near future). As far as standard ab exercises, you could try bicycles, scissors, “in and outs”, or something similar. Bicycles: Sit on the floor like at the top of a sit up. From here, lift your legs off the floor and “pedal” as if you were on a bike. scissors: There’re lots of ways of doing this. Basically, lie flat on your back. Hold one leg straight up in the air (do your best to point your toes directly behind you) and hold the other about 6 inches off the ground. Switch legs every few seconds.
