I’m sure other people will tell you about Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz, Ghirardelli Square, Chinatown, Golden Gate Park, the Exploratorium, Japanese Tea Gardens, etc. So I want to mention a couple non-obvious tourist attractions. I went to both of these sites when I was in 6th grade, and they were so impressive that I took my husband back to them on our honeymoon many years later. Fort Point is underneath the southern end of the Golden Gate Bridge. They had to build the bridge around it to preserve the history. There are park rangers who explain the history of the fort, plus extraordinary views of the bridge and the bay. Dress warm — the winds are strong and cold no matter what time of year! http://www.nps.gov/fopo/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Point,_San_Francisco http://www

there are so many things to do. The obvious shopping & touristy activities, I will leave to the guidebooks. I will tell you the three things that I am always sure to fit into any trip to San Francisco • Visit the Ferry Building Marketplace for gourmet foods, fresh and organic food products, restaurants, kitchen tools, and many unique goods. http://www.ferrybuildingmarketplace.com • Catch some live music. San Francisco has a wonderful music scene, you are sure to find a performance to your liking. One source for finding a show to suit your taste is http://www.sfgate.com/eguide/music/. SF Muni buses and underground are good transportation choices, finding parking for a private vehicle is not always easy http://transit.511.org/tripplanner/
