Spanish Tortillas which are also known as Spanish Omlettes – they’re like a thick omlette and typically have potatoes in them. They eat LOTS and lots of cured sausages with breads and cheeses at breakfast and tapas-style at the bars, etc.

I live in Bilbao and people here eat a lot of seafood. In the morning you can see the house wives line up in front of the fish stores to buy fish for lunch. The food in the north of Spain differs a lot from the diet in the south. Some common dishes are bacalao al pil-pil (cod fish on olive oil and garlic sauce)and chipirones en su tinta (squid in its own ink). A lot of beans are also eaten here. Alubias de Tolousa (red beans stew) is very common here.

I’m pretty sure they eat hamburgers and curry in Spain too. Seriously, though, calamari, chorizo (not too fond of that), arroz ala cubana etc..

At home, people eat a lot of chicken, pork and more fish than in other countries. Soups, lentil stew, chick pea stew are popular in winter. Salads in summer. Paella is popular but, at home you may get a chicken only paella, not the de luxe dish. Macarones, arroz cubana, ropa vieja, hake / merluza, chorizo, trout, escalibada / grilled peppers & aubergine, bean stew, spinach with oine nuts, pork fillet, sardines, steak, sea bream, lamb chops, roasted artichokes, asparagus, are all things I have eaten in Spanish homes. And I could go on.
