What are some examples of water damage and how humans try to prevent damage?
Look at the damage from the rain from a typhoon here at our house and area in the Philippines in November 2006: http://www.malabog.com/Typhoon/index.htm… Almost all the damage was due to rain instead of wind. NASA estimated that over 8″ of rain was dumped by the typhoon, and the rain fell at more than 1.5″/hour at the height of it. There is a graphic illustration located at: http://trmm.gsfc.nasa.gov/publications_d… NASA also had infrared photos of before and after the typhoon which shows the extent of the “mudflows” at: http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Newsroo… Since then, the main channels have been dredged and a lot of rock and cement riprap has been put up to try to protect some of the areas.
