What are some examples of things that demonstrate a poor moral character?
If you have been convicted of murder at any time or an aggravated felony after November 29, 1990, you will be ineligible for naturalization. Other offenses that may negatively impact your application include drug crimes, unpaid child support or alimony, drunk driving offenses, prostitution, polygamy, illegal gambling, time spent in jail or prison totaling more than 180 days during the past five years (or three years if you are married to a US citizen), among others. Additionally, if you lie on your naturalization application or during your interview or omit any other information, your application will be denied on a basis of poor moral character. If the falsehood is not discovered until after you have been granted citizenship, your citizenship will be revoked.
