What are some examples of how open standards have been incorporated into IBM Printing Systems products?
IBM has been incorporating standards into our products for many years. All of our products, from low-end workgroup printers to our fastest production printers, incorporate industry standards. For example, we participated in defining the printer MIB and SNMP standards for managing printers across a network and now support this in most of our products. As JDF matures we will continue to incorporate it into our products. In 2001 we used the JDF job ticket as the base for our powerful Visual Job Ticketing solution. In 2003 we introduced new cutsheet engines that directly support the JDF 1.1 job ticket in their controller. Question: Any final thoughts or words of wisdom for our HVCO readers?
