What are some examples of communication breakdown in a hospital setting?
My niece recently broke her leg. The doctors were not communicating with her, telling her that the pain was all in her head. It would have helped if they had explained things along the way so she would not have been so upset. They could have told her what they were doing to her, what she could expect to feel, how long it would take to recover, what she could expect to do or not be able to do once she did recover. If her pain was all in her head, they could have had someone explain to her what to do when the pain hits, and how to get through it and how to determine the level or severity of the pain. I think she really had a lot of problems simply because she had only had one broken leg and they dealt with broken legs all the time, so they just assumed she would know what was going on and what to expect. They were giving her pain meds on top of pain meds and not giving the pain pills time to take affect and not making sure she had food with the pills and then she flat lined. It was just
