Fate is when something happens because there is no other possible SCIENTIFIC outcome. For example, it’s fate that when you put water in the freezer you will get ice (eventually). Coincidence is when something happens, but you can’t necessarily prove causation. For example, if I’m broke and I need $20 to pay a bill and I happen to find $20 on the bus, that is coincidence because the causation can only be explained by a group of random events.
