What are some easy yet healthy preschool snacks that take five minutes to make?
i work at a preschool where organic foods is the majority… so things like hum mas, cheese, yogurt, nuts, berries, tofu… pretty much a vegitarian hippie diet type thing… one of their “splurge” foods is red apples in wedges with peanut butter spread on one side of two slices of apple with marshmellows in between (to make it look like lips and teeth) and we pretend to brush teeth too with this, also a popular fav is bannanas sliced with orange, lemon, and lime juice drizzled over it- its the healthy version of sour patch kids to me- cubed cheese is also a top for them- http://img.recipezaar.
I have found that trail mix is the best thing for this kind project! Especially if the kids can “make” it themselves. This one is good for kids who are allergic to certain kinds of nuts, because they dont have to include them in their own personal trail mix. You put multiple bowls out onto the table each with something different in them, some ideas are, healthy cereal, nuts, raisins, dried friuts and veggies, pretzels, etc. If the kids are allowed to dish it up themselves, make sure the table is nice and low, and that the handle on the scooper is a little short so it is easier for them to get is into their own cup. If you want you can bring in clear cups so the kids can see every layer of the trail mix they made. If you are looking for something more simple, cheese sticks and 100% juice boxes work well too.
