What are some drawbacks to hybrid cars?

0

* Price – They cost more than comparably sized/equipped gas models. * Battery longevity – The battery can only take so many charge/discharge cycles before needing replacement. * Can only be used on good roads in fair weather – I’ll bet you that a Prius or Insight would never last on my road, and I’ve never seen one out in the winter. This is more a flaw of the current hybrids than of the hybrid concept, but the added weight of the battery combined with the narrow tires (to decrease rolling resistance and increase MPG) would sink the thing up to the rims in my driveway. * Smugness – Watch South Park. Not all hybrid owners are proselytizers, but enough are that there is a -real-risk of becoming a total [vulgar adjective] [derogatory expletive].
