I think your best bet would be a Bichon Frise. The’re cute, small, fluffy, funny, sweet, hypoalergenic (it helps expecially if a friend has alliergys) non-sheading, active, and smart. You would have to bring it to a groomers every month of so, and brush out any knots that you find in its coat, which don’t occur very often but do happen, and spend a fair amount of time with it as bichons are very social. Another type that might work is a maltise, though I’m not sure if they are non sheading. They are quite like the bichon, but are smaller and have a straight coat rather then a curly one.
