What are some creative activities that you can do with any kinds of blocks for a preschool class?
The best first activity with blocks in allowing free exploration, the kids learn about spatial relations, form constancy, etc. If you give them free time first they will be more likely to attend to the activity you present afterwards. When I did OT in the schools, the kids loved when we took turns building a design with our own blocks and then the others had to try and copy it. If you really want to know activities that the kids will like observe the kids during the free-time period, they have very creative minds and will probably show you more activities that are age appropriate than anything we could tell you. The most brain stimulating activity I think has to be telling them to build me a —, and see what they come up with using the blocks available. You can also do this with other craft materials. Just have fun with it.
