What are some cool things to do and see in Amsterdam?
It’s been 35 years since I last saw Amsterdam, but some of the things I remember should still be there. Since you’re young and energetic, you can probably get a lot done in a couple of days, but longer is better and less exhausting. Some ideas: Take a walk through their famous red light district. Before spending money on pornography, note that much of it comes from the USA. A canal boat tour will tell you a lot about the city. You can take a tour of the Heineken Brewery. Check out a marijuana bar, if you don’t have to take a drug test when you get home. Café Folk Fairport used to be a friendly place for beer and music. I played guitar for beer there one night, but they were better known for more famous performers. I don’t know if it still exists. I used to stay at Hotel Kufus. It was inexpensive, comfortable and served a solid breakfast, included with the room. Don’t know if it still exists, either. Stop in a pub and try some genever (gin).
