What are some cool ideas to make my own wall clock?
Clock mechanisms are sold at arts and crafts stores (such as Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, etc.). You can also hit the garage sales and get a clock with the face all yucked up – you only want the hands and back mechanism, anyway. If you like vintage, that can work to your advantage! I have made a few clocks – my newest one out of a piece of flagstone (you can also use sandstone, or a large tile made for flooring (from a hardware store). I painted Southwest designs on it (Kokopelli, bear, etc.), drilled a hole in the middle, and it looks great! If you can get a hold of wire mesh, you can paint a round piece of wood in a metallic color of choice, place the wire mesh on top, then bead long strands of this jewelry wire in the color (s) of your choice. I did this with copper wire mesh and made a lamp to match. I don’t have pictures of them, as they were gifts. If you’d like, feel free to e mail and I’ll write more detailed directions for you. Have fun!!
