What are some cons of having service dogs?
It can be annoying to have to deal with the un-educated about service dogs and service dog rights. It can also be a hassle dealing with places that try to deny you access. Service dogs have to expel a LOT of energy to do their job nearly all day long, and thus do need to eat more to keep up their energy levels. They also need to maintain a higher level of health in general, as the amount of work they do can be quite taxing on the body. Also, yes even service dogs, are still DOGS, and thus can have bad days. I think most people do not realize this and expect service dogs to be absolutely perfect at all times. Sometimes these special dogs just need a break or a nap. Another definite con is that these dogs are usually working just about 24/7, and this can take a toll on their bodies, both physically and emotionally.
