What are some cons about recycling?
The pollution by the trucks picking up the recycling is not a con in the big pictures as it’s no worse than the pollution caused by trucks bringing raw materials, rather than recycling, to market. The biggest con is probably the cost. World commodity prices are very, very low right now. That means the resale value of any recycled material is much less than it costs to recycle it. Prices will go back up though and this will become less of an issue. I guess another small con is time and effort. It takes slightly more effort to sort your garbage into the right bins than it does to throw it all in the trash. Is this a big deal? Not to me at least.
