What Are Some Common Names for Elodea?
Elodea, scientific name Elodea canadensis, is a freshwater perennial (meaning it lives through the year or through many years) plant so readily recognized that it is often referred to as “that aquarium plant,” according to the State of Washington Department of Ecology. Elodea has dark green blade-like leaves and can be distinguished from similar plants like hydrilla because it has only three leaves per whorl, as described by the Texas Agrilife Extension Service.
