A large number of people misrepresent themselves on their résumés. Make sure your job title is accurate because a small slip in a word can make you look fraudulent. It’s also important not to list a qualification you have not completed. Don’t extend the period of time you spent with an employer or cover a time you weren’t working. It’s better to be up front about periods when you took time out. An employer can go back to HR departments to find out the exact dates you started and finished with the company and if you’ve been ‘economical with the truth’ it could destroy any chance of getting your dream job.
