What are some common causes of elbow pain?
Tendonitis, or inflammation of the tendons that attach to the bones of the elbow and function to flex or extend the wrist and fingers, is a common cause of elbow pain. These conditions include tennis elbow, affecting the outer aspect of the elbow, and golfer’s elbow, affecting the inner aspect of the joint. Arthritis can affect the elbow and produce pain, swelling, and stiffness. Loose bodies, commonly called “bone chips” may interfere with elbow motion and produce pain that may be intermittent. Fractures and sprains are common causes of pain after acute trauma.
