I like the Kol Nidrei suggestion. Truly breath taking. Others by Bruch specifically include: Einleitung from Scottish Fantasy Kol Nidrei (already mentioned) Ave Maria for Solo Cello and Orchestra (finding a recording is difficult, however) Adagio for Cello and Orchestra on Celtic Themes (has a major passage, but the whole piece is very similar to the style of Kol Nidrei) Violin Concerto no. 1 (2nd movement) Violin Concerto no. 2 (1st movement) Violin Concerto no. 3 (2nd movement) Other assorted artists/pieces: Atonal: Pendereski Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima Pendereski Cello Sonata Lutoslawski Cello Concerto Finale Romantic: Beethoven Symphony No. 9 in D minor Beethoven Symphony No. 5 (all except first movement) Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 Rachmaninoff Prelude in C sharp Minor no. 2 Mendelssohn Violin Concerto no. 1 (first movement) Barber Adagio for Strings Other: Partita No. II Bach Rite of Spring (assorted movements) Stravinsky Firebird Suite Stravinsky Sonata In C-Sha
