Chinese New Year has plenty of traditions, including a large parade to mark the turn of the year. However, according to History.com, there are many other traditional celebrations during the 15-day holiday. On the fifth day, it is believed that the gods of prosperity come down from the heavens. Businesses will set off firecrackers, with the belief that doing so will assure them success in the coming year. On the last — or the 15th — day of the New Year, the Festival of Lanterns marks the end of the holiday. All kinds of lanterns are lit and displayed in the streets.
