There is no “the protestant religion”. They started out in the 16th cent. with 3 or 4 different theologies. Less than 500 yrs later there are between 30 and 40 thousand different protestant denominations. They have multiplied by division and schism. About the only thing that they agree on is that they don’t like Catholics.
