What are some characteristics of Harlem Renaissance literature?

You choose the perfect book because “Passing” is all about blacks trying to pass themselves off as white ppl. The book deals with Passing, Colorism, racism, and identity ( to say the least) and all of these themes/issues appear in Harlem Renaissance literature, moreso than in Modern literature, especially colorism and passing. Colorism and “passing” are no longer hot issues today since our society is less racist and the color/hue of one’s skin isn’t a liability and doesn’t prevent a person from being successful and well off. Therefore, these two topic don’t show up in Modern black literature as often as they did during the Renaissance period, a time when being caucasian was better than being any other ethnicity and being light-skinned black was better than being dark-skinned black. Nella Larson isn’t the only Harlem Renaissance author to write about passing and colorism (ie: light-skinned blacks against dark-skinned blacks). Rudolph Fisher wrote a few short stories that center on color
