What are some careers opportunities helping animals?
Helping animals is a very rewarding job; most days it doesn’t even seem like a job. There are several ways in which you can work with animals. • Volunteer – all shelters are constantly looking for volunteers to work on-site at the shelter, to promote educational programs or to foster animals awaiting adoption. When jobs become available, most often shelters will look first among their volunteer staff to fill the positions. • Become a vet tech – there are programs at most community colleges and trade schools for veterinarian technicians. The programs usually require 18 months to become certified, but can be as extensive as a four-year degree. • Become a humane law officer – the first step is to contact your local humane law office and ask them what is needed to enter this field. Some require a four-year degree, while others require that you go through the police academy first. There are many other ways you can help animals too and each one is rewarding. Good luck!
