What are some basic tips for taking care of a leather coat?
Tips: 1) Treat it for stains and water resistance as soon as possible and about once every other month if worn a lot. 2) Use hairspray to get off pen ink marks (leather not suede). 3) If an outdoor coat, wear a scarf around your neck to keep hair and skin oils from discoloring the leather around the inside collar. 4) Use a damp cloth right away to remove spills or salt (if brushed up against cars). 5) Wipe off water if caught outside in a downpour. 6) Do not leave suede in direct sunlight, as it causes colored suede to fade over time.
