What are things that your partner is interested in? Play up to those interests and hobbies as a theme for the party – for party favors, decorations, music, food, cake, etc. FOR EXAMPLE, if your partner is really into Sci-Fi movies and shows decorate the place where you are having the party with space type things or with something that is reminisce of their favorite show or movie; have the guests come dressed as their favorite characters from your partner’s favorite movie or show; make a cake or have a cake made that looks like a space ship or something like that. Serve your partner’s favorite food(s) – if s/he likes BBQ, have a cookout with burgers, Brats, hot dogs, chicken, ribs, potato salad, coleslaw, BBQ/baked beans, watermelon/fresh fruit salad, etc. Make sure the cake is their favorite type of cake – or for something different, serve their favorite pie with ice cream, whipped cream and assorted toppings.
