What are some arguments both for and against the concept of war?
For: Self defense: Nations sometimes have to fight in self-defense over unreasonable nations who are intent on taking their lands. Nations who do not have sufficient military force to resist invasion or who are unprepared or unwilling to resist the invasion cease to exist. Examples of this type of warfare would be Israel’s four wars against its Islamic neighbors (1948, 1956, 1967 and 1973), including the preemptive strikes in 1956 and 1967; Native American wars against invading United States settlers and Army from the late 18th century to the late 19th century; the Polish resistance to invasion by Germany Sept. 1, 1939. Injustice: The people who say that war never contributes anything useful to the world obviously miss the American Civil War, which freed Southern slaves, and World War 2, which destroyed the German Nazi regime and prevented the complete extermination of European Jews and other nationalities.
