What are snap beans?
Typically classified as climbing or bush varieties, there are dozens of types of beans to choose. Blue Lake and Daytona are two of the most popular green snap varieties. The tiny French bean, haricot verte, now grown all over the world, are more concentrated in flavor and considered by many to be the finest. Snap beans also are available in yellow varieties such as wax, yellow French and yellow Romano. Purple snap beans are another popular variety although they loose their purple color when cooked. Dragon Tongues and Tongues of Fire are two of the unusual looking varieties that also loose their unique visual characteristics when cooked.
