What are sleeping porches and why do we have them?
A sleeping porch is a large room with a bunch of bunk beds that residents use to sleep any time. The study rooms are only for personal use and property, not sleeping (it is illegal to sleep in a room that does not have a fire alarm, which the study rooms do not). The sleeping porches allow us to have more space for residents by doubling and tripling residents in study rooms. Unlike most of the other co-ops which have only one large sleeping porch, Dixon divides its six rooms by how lightly you sleep (so the snorers don’t wake light sleepers).
