What are single-wall and double-wall construction?
Single-wall construction uses a single sheet thickness of either mild-carbon or stainless steel meeting ASTM specifications. Superior ribbed strength is achieved with minimum 1/2 lap welded joints. Double-wall construction uses two dependable walls of steel, the outer wrapped tightly around the inner creating an interstice. The interstice can be monitored to detect a leak in either tank wall using a Highland Tank monitoring system or manual probe. The primary tank can be internally seal-welded, lined, or constructed with stainless steel.
