What are signs/symptoms of myocardial infarction?
Chest pain is the predominant symptom of myocardial infarction. The pain can be intense and prolonged and is often described as a heavy pressure, or the feeling of heaviness, crushing, or squeezing of the chest. Attacks can occur suddenly or gradually. This pain can also radiate to the jaw, neck, shoulders, arms, back, or stomach. Other symptoms may include weakness, nausea and vomiting, shortness of breath, intense sweating and arm tingling/numbness.4 Some people may experience no or minimal signs/symptoms of myocardial infarction, such as mild indigestion. Recent studies have shown that the symptoms of a (MI) vary between men and women.
