What are Shoolas as per Vaastu Shastra?
Obstructions or Shoolas on the site mainly occur in the form of roads, trees, wells, pillars, gutters, water bodies and temples. For instance, it is laid down that a house should never be built under the shadow of a Gopuram. It is evident that even our forefathers realized the ill effects caused by obstructing sunshine and breeze by tall buildings. This is something we need to adopt nowadays. The most common modern day Shoola is the road. This Shoola occurs when a perpendicular road meets along the site frontage. It calls for remedial measures that can prevent people on the perpendicular road from looking into the house. The door of the house should never directly face the road. This prevents the invasion of privacy.
